Tweets come to Yahoo search results and portals
Yahoo has begun to integrate Twitter posts into its search results, following in the footsteps of Google and Microsoft. The company began rolling out the first of a handful of Twitter-integrated features Wednesday, with most of the other offerings coming later this year. Eventually, Yahoo users will not only be able to see tweets in search results, they'll also see them on other Yahoo properties for specific topics and be able to use Yahoo portals to send tweets as well.
Yahoo! and Twitter partnered to integrate real-time Twitter results in the Yahoo! News Shortcut and for other buzzing topics. “We have access to the full public feed of Twitter content. We’ve built a real-time index of this feed so you can see what people are tweeting about the topics you’re looking for. Real-time search involves striking a balance between showing the very latest content and showing slightly older content that may be more interesting or authoritative. In the coming weeks, we will be experimenting along these lines and upgrading tons of stuff to provide better, quicker, and more relevant Twitter results on Yahoo! Search result pages. The real-time Search integration is available immediately, with other features of the integration to be launched later this year,” stated Yahoo!.
