Toshiba Store-TV media player continues stabbing at sd-quality

Toshiba has an external hard drive on the market which also can serve as a media player. While the Store TV features an HDMI connection, the player can not play video in HD quality.

The TVStore, wrapped in a black casing, is available with a 3.5 "hard drive of 500GB, 1TB or 1.5TB. Also included is a small remote control. Furthermore, the player features a USB 2.0 slave, a USB 2.0 host, and component-video and composite outputs. It is an HDMI connection available, but no networking opportunities.

According to Toshiba, the TV store almost all audio and video formats. Remarkably, it appears that video formats to HD video, such as MKV files with H.264 encoding can not be processed. The TV Store stabbing remains in SD resolutions of 720x576 pixels and the player via HDMI upscaled to 1080i images.
